One way to fix this tubing would be to cut out the bad section and throw in a coupler. Now that’s a perfectly valid way to go about it. On a break like this though, I’ve got a slightly quicker and easier solution.

Q-Wrap Sticks To Itself, It’s Self Adhesive

This amazing stuff here is Q-Wrap. Let me grab a piece here and show you its peculiar qualities. Pull it away from this clear liner like this. It’s not adhesive, but it sticks to itself really well, even when wet. It’s incredibly stretchy. It’ll stretch about 300 percent before it splits. It snaps back to shape. Let’s go to work on this break. Place a little bit just over the top of the original break and then we wrap it back around under until it connects to itself, stretching as we go.

Pull it two to three times over the original break. Continuing to stretch every time. Now that I’ve got three winds on it I’ll overlap it to one side about half the width of the tape. See I don’t want to go too far like this. Wrap it around, each time moving out a bit. After I get about three-quarters of an inch over. Then I’ll go all the way to the other side. Then once I get a good wrap on that side. I’ll bring it back toward the middle. And finish it off. Pull it tight till it breaks or cut it off.

Repair Holes In Poly Drip Line

Because we’re stretching it, we’re not only covering the leak with rubber to seal the leak. But we’re also putting pressure onto the tubing. Q-Wrap is UV resistant. And it is a permanent repair. So, if you’ve got a bit of poly tubing in your irrigation system. You’ll definitely want a roll of this in your toolbox.
