The Rain Bird 3504 PC Seal-A-Matic Rotor is short to the mid-range rotor. In this video, I’m going to tell you about Seal-A-Matic. I’m going to cover some other features. And I’ll show you how to change out a nozzle and make some adjustments. I’m your Sprinkler Warehouse product specialist, let’s get started.

Benefits Of The SAM For Your Lawn

This is the 3504-PC-Sam. The “SAM” in its name means it has a seal-a-matic check valve. Having a check valve prevents low head drainage. Let me explain that. If a zone of your sprinkler system has a significant slope, then when the sprinklers shut off, water in the pipes drains out of your lowest sprinkler heads. This can cause a puddle and may erode soil from around the head.

A check valve keeps the water in the pipes. The Seal-A-Matic check valve in this rotor works with up to 7 feet of elevation change The PC in the name stands for partial circle. That means it has an adjustable arc, also called the pattern. The arc is adjustable from 40 to 360 degrees. The popup height on this rotor is four inches. The 3504 rotors have a half-inch inlet rather than the three-quarter-inch inlet like on the 5000 series. This is a smaller rotor. It has a watering range of 15 to 35 feet.

The range will depend on which nozzle is installed and how the adjustment screw is set. This rotor comes with this set of nozzles. When you make the following adjustments you can use a rain bird tool like this one or you can use a small flathead screwdriver.

Various Adjustments For Maximum Irrigation

Let’s talk about the various adjustments. Looking at the top of the rotor This is the radius adjustment slot where you adjust the watering distance. This is the pull-up slot. For this, you’ll need the rain Bird tool This is the arc Adjustment Slot. Where you adjust the arc also called the pattern. Let’s go look at a 3504 that’s already installed. Here’s how to change out a nozzle. Insert a Rain Bird tool or the tool on the nozzle tree into the pull-up slot. Turn and lift up.

While holding the riser up with one hand, back out the radius adjustment screw. You can pry out the nozzle with a flat head screwdriver or pull it out with needle-nose pliers. Choose the appropriate nozzle from the nozzle tree. Insert the new nozzle. And screw back down the radius adjustment screw. Turn the water on to your sprinkler system.

Use the radius adjustment screw to set the watering distance. You want the spray from this rotor to reach the next rotor over. Now we’ll set the arc. I’m rotating the turret back and forth to take a look at the arc. To increase the arc insert a small flathead screwdriver into the Arc adjustment slot. Turn clockwise to increase your arc or counterclockwise to decrease. And that is the 3504-PC-Sam by Rain Bird. Order some 3504s today on Sprinkler Warehouse dot com.
