The P50 is an impact rotor. The two basic types of rotors are impact and gear driven. Gear-driven rotors internalize all the mechanisms that cause the rotor to turn, whereas impact rotors externalize the mechanisms that cause them to turn. Because of the way they’re designed, impact rotors are especially good for dirty water applications. They’re less likely to clog in those circumstances due to the straight-through water design.

Feature Of The P50 Impact Rotor

So let’s talk about the P50. This impact rotor has a half-inch male connection which means you’ll need an adapter to attach it to a shrub stick. The P50 comes with one nine-sixty-fourth Nozzle. This particular impact is a good choice for low flow and low-pressure situations.

It can operate with pressures as low as 15 PSI. Typically gear-driven rotors can’t operate at that pressure. The watering distance, also called the radius, for this rotor is 20 to 38 feet. Let’s talk about a few of the adjustments. On the top of the P50 is a knob that raises and lowers this deflector plate which reduces the watering distance and also breaks up the stream. There’s also a diffuser screw that will break up the stream further and also shorten the watering distance.

How To Adjust The Pattern

To adjust the pattern, there’s a little trip lever here. When the lever is up this rotor will turn 360 degrees. When it’s down the pattern is defined by where these little collar pieces are situated.
